Leiko and the window

This is a very pleasant illustration. The character is at a relaxed posed, simply looking out the window, but there is still a lot of detail in this simple action that the artist has been able to capture. The position of the girl is not awkward or out of place. The shading is very good and the mood of the picture has a somber tone, which I believe is what the artist was going for.

An interesring feature is the folds and creases of the blankets she has wrapped around herself and the curtains near her. This is a detail that displays an attention to texture. The clothes she is wearing is not the same as the blankets she is clutching to keep warm.

It is hard for me to explain. I suppose what I mean to say is that the artist is not simply drawing a strange looking square and calling it a blanket or a curtain. The artist is actually trying to make the objects in this illustration realistic. That, in itself, should be pointed out.

In short, this is a lovely picture.
